Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge officially opens at the Walt Disney World Resort inside Disney's Hollywood Studios on August 29th, 2019. We were allowed into "Star Wars Land" for a 4 hour preview this past weekend. Click on "Read More" for our entire review of the land, food, and entertainment offerings you'll find when you visit this galaxy, not so far away, in Orlando, FL.
UPDATE!!!! THIS HAS BEEN DELAYED AND WILL NOT DEBUT APRIL 22ND!!!! It has taken 3 years of Imagineering for Disney's Animal Kingdom to open its first nighttime offering called 'Rivers of Light'. Recently Disney announced that it will debut this one of a kind multi-element show on April 22nd, 2016. Rivers of Light will take place on Discovery River in the newly expanded area of Asia. The video below will give you a great idea about what to expect, but I'm sure it does not give it justice. Remember that this show will also include the recently upgraded Tree of Life. Imagineers have been working overnights round the clock to change every single leaf on the tree. The new leaves will illuminate with the show and prove to be a centerpiece of the park in the evening hours as well. During a recent visit to the Disneyland Resort we were honored to be welcomed into the preferred viewing area for Disney's Paint The Night Electrical Parade. This allowed us to get a great video of the entire parade, unobstructed and in Full HD. We welcome you to watch as the floats come to life with thousands of sparkling lights, and electro-synthe-magnetic musical sounds! From the very start of EPCOT, corporate sponsorship has been the key to new attractions and experiences. GM, Siemens, Kodak, etc. Disney's most recent attraction at EPCOT is presented by Glidden paint. It’s called Colortopia and hopefully this will breathe new life into Inoventions East. Inoventions has struggled to keeps guest entertained for many years now. I remember as a kid walking through inventions and it felt more like a world’s fair! The latest and greatest of upcoming technology was featured in a way that immersed you in the future. I saw things there that years later made it to my local Best Buy. Among the most memorable gadgets was Bluetooth. I remember watching a video of a group of kids that were rollerblading around and talking to each other on Bluetooth earpieces. It took 5 years or more before I saw one in a store! More recently (and by that I mean 8-9 years ago) I rode a Segway in Inoventions. This was the next time and last time I saw something featured that was an "innovative invention". Sure, there is the smart home, and a volt parked outside, but anything presented now is setup in a way that really makes you dig to understand it. Personally I have a smart home, I have an electric car, I ride a hover board to work... so I'm pretty tech savvy to say the least. Where was the hover board exhibit before it was available to buy it online? (Now to clarify I mean the smart balance wheel, but it is nicknamed the hover board.) But there are real hover boards, the kind that float. Let’s setup an experience station where you can climb onboard one of these real floating hover boards and let people try them under supervision of a cast member! Is this going to come into mainstream? NO! Probably not, but it gets people talking, and thinking, and it will inspire the next generation to think outside the box. Let’s educate people PROPERLY about electric vehicles presented by Tesla. Let’s setup a booth where they scan you into a video game character presented by Microsoft Xbox or PlayStation... Play as YOU in the Toy Box of Disney Infinity, have your character 3D printed and take it home to your console. I don’t need to learn how to save money by "feeding the pig" or meander through IBM's rather uninspiring expo display. Sorry, this post has gotten away from me... but if any of these ideas come to light I want a finders fee and a name tag that says Imagineer... lol! Back to Colortopia:
We all rely on our technology for capturing those perfect Disney memories. Even if you purchased Memory Maker you still need your own phone or camera to remember the memories in between. Depending on the device you have you may find yourself, and your device drained by the middle of the afternoon! Located in the middle of the Magic Kingdom you will find a great place to stop, relax, have the entire family use the bathroom, maybe eat those snacks you snuck into the park... and charge your device!
Are you a Chase credit or debit card member? Well if you are visiting EPCOT... You will want to be! Chase has an exclusive location only for Chase card members that is a great escape from the park. On our recent visit we flashed our Chase Disney Visa and were welcomed into this exclusive area!
It happens to everyone... you finally get to the bus stop and realize you forgot something back at the room. You think, do I have enough time to run back and get it before the next bus comes? OR, you feel like you have been waiting F...O...R...E...V...E...R... for the next bus to come, and this isn't the first time in forever! I'm excited to share with you that on a recent visit to Walt Disney World we were able to experience the calm that comes with knowing. Using GPS tracking Disney has established a system that estimates the arrival time of your next bus. After spending over a week on Disney property I can say that it is pretty accurate too. I'd rather know if the next bus is 10 minutes out rather than wait 5 minutes and wonder what is taking so long. Now if they can just install these at the parks too!
The International Food and Wine Festival Starting Today For It's 20th Year! It's my favorite time of the year! Our wedding anniversary... AND..... The International Food and Wine Festival at Disney's E.P.C.O.T.! The festival runs today (September 25th) through November 16th. Among the many booths and buildings over 30 different countries are represented. Be sure to visit the Festival Center located in the old Wonders of Life pavilion in Future World and pickup your own (free) passport. Each country has a stamp and you will have fun visiting each booth and collecting their stamp to fill up your passport! When you have completed the passport bring it back to the Festival Center for your 'completed' stamp. It makes a great souvenir! "and bonus... it's included with your park admission" For frequent visitors to the Walt Disney World Resort you will soon find that it is impossible to do everything the resort has to offer. I read somewhere that if you were to vacation at Walt Disney World for an entire year... There would still be things you missed! That said, I have a list of hidden gems I have found or experienced over the years that really make me feel fulfilled with my visits to the happiest place on earth: Have you ever left the park and regretted not picking up that souvenir you fell in love with? Maybe you found it at the back of the park, but now you are all the way on the other side. Well, while you are waiting in line for your next attraction you can now determine where else you can buy that thing you can't live without! Disney has launched a shopping app for park guests and Disney Parks Fans!
