"Please keep your arms and legs inside the boat at all times" After an entire summer-long refurbishment of one of the staples of Magic Kingdom, pirates of all ages pillage and plunder and rifle and loot as the Pirates of the Caribbean re-opens this weekend! Earlier this year the attraction closed for an extended amount of time to correct an issue created by the replacement of the attraction boats. Guest complained that the new boats were clumsy and bounced around the attraction too much. Also, they splashed guest and became a safety issue. Hopefully all of the bugs are worked out... Now if I can just get a look at that there treasure map, and this here key... -Drink Up Me Hearties Yo Ho The International Food and Wine Festival Starting Today For It's 20th Year! It's my favorite time of the year! Our wedding anniversary... AND..... The International Food and Wine Festival at Disney's E.P.C.O.T.! The festival runs today (September 25th) through November 16th. Among the many booths and buildings over 30 different countries are represented. Be sure to visit the Festival Center located in the old Wonders of Life pavilion in Future World and pickup your own (free) passport. Each country has a stamp and you will have fun visiting each booth and collecting their stamp to fill up your passport! When you have completed the passport bring it back to the Festival Center for your 'completed' stamp. It makes a great souvenir! "and bonus... it's included with your park admission" For frequent visitors to the Walt Disney World Resort you will soon find that it is impossible to do everything the resort has to offer. I read somewhere that if you were to vacation at Walt Disney World for an entire year... There would still be things you missed! That said, I have a list of hidden gems I have found or experienced over the years that really make me feel fulfilled with my visits to the happiest place on earth: BREAKING NEWS The long awaited expansion of Indiana Jones' presence in Walt Disney World has finally been fulfilled with the open of Jock Lindsey's Hanger Bar. Jock Lindsey of course being a freelance pilot often hired by Indy to fly to remote parts of the world. Oh, that's just my pet snake Reggie Have you ever left the park and regretted not picking up that souvenir you fell in love with? Maybe you found it at the back of the park, but now you are all the way on the other side. Well, while you are waiting in line for your next attraction you can now determine where else you can buy that thing you can't live without! Disney has launched a shopping app for park guests and Disney Parks Fans!
Its hard to know what you will need to pack when visiting The Walt Disney World Resort. If you are staying on Disney property without a vehicle you may be limited in the stores you have access to. There is not a Target or a Walgreens on the bus route and the price of some common items will be expensive to purchase from the hotel gift shop. That said, I wanted to share our packing list with everyone! I hope you find this helpful. Maybe you are an expert but you might be surprised at how simple things can make your vacation more convenient and enjoyable...
The ridiculous list of items that you can find Star Wars branding continues to grow as the new chapter in the Star Wars saga approaches. The latest item I found was the above pictured Coffee Mate creamer... Nothing says snuggling up with a warm cup of coffee like... Chewbacca? Let There Be Light! "Space Mountain! Blast off on a high-speed outer space adventure, and careen through the cosmos!" Have you ever wondered what Space Mountain looks like with the lights on? Well wonder no more Space Ranger! On a recent trip to Walt Disney World we had a rare opportunity to ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover while Space Mountain was undergoing an inspection. This allowed us a chance to photograph and film our experience to share with you here!
Last night on PBS was the first part of the Walt Disney American Experience. A show that features documentaries of great American inventors, visionaries, entrepreneurs, and legends in their field. The 2 part episode featured none other than Walt Disney himself. I have watch a lot of documentaries about Walt, I have read many books, blogs, websites, and magazines. When I say a lot.... I mean A LOT. I can honestly say that last night was the first time I saw new footage featured in a program about him. It was also the first time I heard new audio of Walt speaking! It was captivating not only because of the new sensory material, but the subject matter was hard hitting. Often times when you learn of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse it is presented in such a passive way that you do not realize the struggle and determination it took for Walt to pitch the cartoon to theater after theater for 3 months before someone gave him a chance. This program took it beyond the fairy dust of wishing on a star and pulled back the curtain on the reality of what it took for a man and a mouse to build the empire that took on his name.
Part 1 covered his humble childhood through the release of Pinocchio and the cartoonist union strike of 1941. Part 2 airs tonight on PBS. Check your local listing for re-runs and times. You can also purchase the series on Amazon.com here: |
