It has been over 1 year since Luigi's Flying Tires closed February 17th, 2015 at Disney's California Adventure Park leaving only 2 attractions open in Cars Land. I'm excited to announce that the long awaited re-opening of Luigi's Casa Della Tires is finally here! March 7th, 2016 Luigi will re-open his shop after visiting his family back home in Carsoli, Italy! But Luigi didn't return to Radiator Springs alone... He brought back 20 of his cousins (apparently he has a really big family) with him to celebrate race day! Are you ready to experience Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters on your next visit!? UPDATE!!!! THIS HAS BEEN DELAYED AND WILL NOT DEBUT APRIL 22ND!!!! It has taken 3 years of Imagineering for Disney's Animal Kingdom to open its first nighttime offering called 'Rivers of Light'. Recently Disney announced that it will debut this one of a kind multi-element show on April 22nd, 2016. Rivers of Light will take place on Discovery River in the newly expanded area of Asia. The video below will give you a great idea about what to expect, but I'm sure it does not give it justice. Remember that this show will also include the recently upgraded Tree of Life. Imagineers have been working overnights round the clock to change every single leaf on the tree. The new leaves will illuminate with the show and prove to be a centerpiece of the park in the evening hours as well. During a recent visit to the Disneyland Resort we were honored to be welcomed into the preferred viewing area for Disney's Paint The Night Electrical Parade. This allowed us to get a great video of the entire parade, unobstructed and in Full HD. We welcome you to watch as the floats come to life with thousands of sparkling lights, and electro-synthe-magnetic musical sounds! The skies above Walt Disney World and Disneyland might soon have more than just fairies flying high above the castles. "Flixels" or "Floating Pixels" might soon become a reality for Disney park guests. Late in 2014 The Walt Disney Company filed 3 patents that revolved around the use of drones. However, a recent request from Disney to the FAA has people talking... Read on to find out more!

BREAKING NEWS For many years The Magic Eye Theater located in the Imagination Pavilion of EPCOT has hosted Captain EO to pay tribute to the King of POP, Michael Jackson. Prior to its rebirth you may recall the theater hosted Honey I Shrunk The Audience and it is often home to special sneak peaks into upcoming Disney films. Each of these attractions has failed to bring in the crowds to fill the theater seats... but today Disney announced that it will be ending the long time run of Captain EO on December 6th, 2015 to make way for something new... From the very start of EPCOT, corporate sponsorship has been the key to new attractions and experiences. GM, Siemens, Kodak, etc. Disney's most recent attraction at EPCOT is presented by Glidden paint. It’s called Colortopia and hopefully this will breathe new life into Inoventions East. Inoventions has struggled to keeps guest entertained for many years now. I remember as a kid walking through inventions and it felt more like a world’s fair! The latest and greatest of upcoming technology was featured in a way that immersed you in the future. I saw things there that years later made it to my local Best Buy. Among the most memorable gadgets was Bluetooth. I remember watching a video of a group of kids that were rollerblading around and talking to each other on Bluetooth earpieces. It took 5 years or more before I saw one in a store! More recently (and by that I mean 8-9 years ago) I rode a Segway in Inoventions. This was the next time and last time I saw something featured that was an "innovative invention". Sure, there is the smart home, and a volt parked outside, but anything presented now is setup in a way that really makes you dig to understand it. Personally I have a smart home, I have an electric car, I ride a hover board to work... so I'm pretty tech savvy to say the least. Where was the hover board exhibit before it was available to buy it online? (Now to clarify I mean the smart balance wheel, but it is nicknamed the hover board.) But there are real hover boards, the kind that float. Let’s setup an experience station where you can climb onboard one of these real floating hover boards and let people try them under supervision of a cast member! Is this going to come into mainstream? NO! Probably not, but it gets people talking, and thinking, and it will inspire the next generation to think outside the box. Let’s educate people PROPERLY about electric vehicles presented by Tesla. Let’s setup a booth where they scan you into a video game character presented by Microsoft Xbox or PlayStation... Play as YOU in the Toy Box of Disney Infinity, have your character 3D printed and take it home to your console. I don’t need to learn how to save money by "feeding the pig" or meander through IBM's rather uninspiring expo display. Sorry, this post has gotten away from me... but if any of these ideas come to light I want a finders fee and a name tag that says Imagineer... lol! Back to Colortopia:
BREAKING NEWS One of the popular tier 1 attractions at EPCOT will be closing for a lengthy refurbishment. This refurbishment will upgrade the attraction to a full HD experience call Soarin' Around The World and will include sights, sounds, and smells from many signature locations! The current film which only features California locations has been shown since the attractions original debut at Disney's California Adventure and was duplicated at The Land Pavilion in EPCOT debuting May 5th, 2005. Ever notice your flight number is 5505? The current attraction is set to close on January 4th, 2016 and re-open sometime in the "summer" of 2016 complete with a 3rd theater! When that date becomes available we will let you know. In the meantime guests who love the attraction can anticipate a "copy" of this attraction when "FlyOver America" opens in the Mall Of America in the spring of 2016. Former Imagineer Rich Rothschild is assisting the Mall Of America to build this attraction.
In recent weeks the Magic of Disney Animation building suffered closure due to the ongoing expansion of Disney's Hollywood Studios. This came with mixed feelings of many park guests as one of the cult favorite attractions was housed within this building. No news yet on if they will be relocating the Animation Academy or if this is closed for good... But in the meantime they will be using the space to immerse guests in the world of Star Wars both old and new and my guess would be it will be the backdrop to build hype for the upcoming Star Wars Land. This location is set to open in December of 2015. |
